Hey! Salt is probably the most used mineral in food prep. And rightly so. It does a lot.
But the average American adult eats about 3500mg of sodium per day. The recommended upper limit? It's 2300mg. That means most people are getting 1,200mg more than they should. Now, I know that might not seem like a lot. Or maybe you have no idea what it seems like. Because who is out here thinking about sodium content anyway? (meeeeeeeeee) And I'm not trying to scare you away from salt. But sodium is something we want to be mindful of. Because we don't have time for high blood pressure, strokes, sad kidneys (aka kidney disease) or sad hearts (aka heart disease).
